Andres Orco is a guitarist and composer. He received a bachelor’s degree from the Berklee College of Music, a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a doctorate from the University of Colorado Boulder.

While at Berklee, Orco studied with guitar legends Mick Goodrick and Tim Miller—both of whom deeply impacted his approach to the guitar and pedagogy.

As a performer, Orco has shared the stage with esteemed musicians in Colorado, including John Gunther, Victor Mestas, Annie Booth and Tim Wendel. He has also played in national and international festivals, such as the Panama Jazz Festival and the Denver Five Points Festival.

While an active performer, Orco is also a researcher. Currently investigating rhythmic and metric complexity in jazz, the ethics of transcription and the intersection of ethnography and analysis of modern jazz, Orco has presented his work at the University of Buffalo International Guitar Research conference and the Rhythm in Music since 1900 conference.
