“Our son’s primary professor can only be described as exemplary; he took a talented but somewhat undisciplined musician and transitioned him into a focused future professional who knows what he wants and is willing to take on the hard work to achieve his goals.”

Ensembles

Orchestra getting ready to perform

All College of Music Ensembles are open by audition to all students regardless of major except for the Percussion, Early Music, and Guitar Ensemble.  College of Music students participate in numerous outstanding ensembles and chamber groups. Recitals and concerts by the College’s performing organizations, faculty, guest artists, and students provide the university community and Boulder area with some of the finest music being performed today.

In addition to exciting performance opportunities, graduate students may elect to study conducting with one of several members of our acclaimed conducting faculty. Conducting students in the MM and DMA degree programs may concentrate in choral, orchestral, or wind ensemble/band areas. Major work in the conducting degrees includes advanced conducting, analytical studies, score reading, orchestration, arranging, performance-related writing, and conducting practica.
