“There are great performances that happen every week. You can go to see one whenever you want.”

Accompanying Services

Master Class

Welcome to Accompanying Services at the College of Music!

The College of Music is committed to providing essential accompanying services for the various areas of need; this is detailed in the policies and procedures issued by the collaborative piano faculty. That said, there are limited resources and a significant need; for this reason, allocations for pianist time have been defined for each area.

The College’s policies and procedures regarding accompanying services may be found in this document: Collaborative relationships at CU 11-12.

As detailed in the policies, students who need a pianist for a performance – jury, degree recital, master class – must fill out the online request form and submit copies of the repertoire by the published deadlines.

Deadlines for submission of the request are as follows:

  • Juries and master classes: 5 weeks before the date of the performance
  • Degree recitals: 9 weeks before the date of the performance

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a musician is that we are able to make music with others, to actively engage with others in the creative process. This implies that every person involved in the process is equally responsible for the outcome. For this reason, a student may ask to work with a particular pianist in their request; the Collaborative Piano faculty will do their best to honor such requests, though schedule and availability may determine otherwise.
