Music Theory Online is an open access, peer-reviewed journal edited by Yonatan Malin, a new faculty member in the Composition and Theory Department. Professor Malin just released the latest issue, MTO 18.3, with articles about tonality in jazz, musical forces, ambiguity, and form. Associate Professor Keith Waters is author of one of the featured articles, “Other Good Bridges: Continuity and Debussy’s ‘Reflets dans l’eau’,” and Professor Waters also served as a guest editor for the volume. The issue as a whole honors the professional legacy of Steve Larson, a remarkable theorist and jazz pianist from the University of Oregon who passed away last year. Music Theory Online is a journal of the Society for Music Theory.
